Johnson County Bar Foundation

In 1988 leaders of the Johnson County Bar Association started a project to develop a charitable branch of the Association. Their work led to the development of the Johnson County Bar Foundation - a 501(c)(3) charity.The mission of the Foundation is to provide support for legally related charities.

The Foundation started with meetings attended by just a few members. It has grown and continues to grow. There are now over400 members of the Foundation. In addition,200 have become Fellows by making a major financial commitment. There are 24 members on the Foundation's Board of Trustees who represent some of the best legal talent in our community. All continue to give of their time because of their commitment to community service. The Foundation has provided assistance to many children and family related charities and organizations and has provided an outlet for attorneys who want to give back to the community.

The accomplishments of the Foundation are impressive. One of the initial acts of giving began with the Valentine Gala, an event that helped raise more than $2 million for the Sunflower House, a child abuse prevention center in Johnson County. The Foundation has also helped raise and distribute more than $1 million dollars for families and children in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area and helping more than30 different charities including Safe-home, Kansas Foster & Adoptive Children,Head Start of Shawnee Mission,CASA, Solace House, Juvenile Court Services, Gift of Life Foundation, the Ali Kemp Foundation and many others.
