Johnson Memorial Baptist Church

The Johnson Memorial Baptist Church inception dates back to 1948 when Reverend Mitchell and Missionary Elizabeth Johnson, together with many of their friends, began to conduct prayer services in their home at 4727 B Street, S.E., Washington, D.C.

On June 30, 1953, the body assembled at 3215 – 20th Street, NE, Washington, D.C., and organized into a Missionary Baptist Church. A special council of delegates from several Constituted Missionary Baptist Churches of Greater Washington, D.C., and vicinity recognized and sanctioned the young church and invested it with a charter empowering it to practice the Baptist principles, doctrines, and faith according to the New Testament Standards of Christian experience and life as a Missionary Baptist Church.

Today, under the sincere and fine leadership of Reverend Gaston, and a strong supporting membership, the church flourishes. We glow with continued gratitude to our Beneficent Creator for the manifold blessings and comforts we continue to enjoy, may God help us in the years to come.
