Jones Road Chapel

Jones Road Chapel is a church that loves Jesus and wants to make Him known throughout the Broadway-Slavic Village neighborhood, Cleveland, and the world.

The church began in 1857 on what was then Wales Street in what was then Newburgh, Ohio by Welsh immigrants. In 1876, the church built the present building, which stands on Jones Road.

The congregation has changed names a few times over the year but has nonetheless existed continually for over 150 years. It was the Wales St. Congregational Church, Christian South Cleveland Welsh Congregation, Centennial Welsh Congregational Church, Jones Road Welsh Congregational Church, and Jones Road Congregational Church. Whatever the name, it has existed to make Jesus known in Cleveland and beyond.

In 2006, another church was planted in the neighborhood, The Village Chapel, with the vision of witnessing a changed community through changed lives--lives changed by the good news about Jesus. In 2013, leaders from this church and what was then Jones Road Congregational Church began discussing how the congregations could partner together for the sake of Jesus and his message.

Recognizing that combining their leadership and resources might allow them to do more in the neighborhood than if separate, they began to pursue a merger. This merger was completed in 2014, and the name Jones Road Chapel was adopted to reflect the two heritages.

Today, Jones Road Chapel continues to be a light in the community, offering Sunday school classes for all ages, regular worship services, free community hunger meals, moms' nights off, men's breakfasts, job seekers' ministries, budgeting and personal finance courses, and a host of additional programs to show the love of Jesus to its neighbors.
