The UAMS Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program provides initial and continuing education for persons seeking a career in home caregiving as well as training for family members and/or significant others caring for an older adult in the home.
The program is offered throughout Arkansas in 8 Locations and is replicated from the Schmieding Center for Senior Health in Springdale. Upon completion, participants will be Certified in the areas of In-Home Assistant (PCA) Home Care Assistant and Alzheimer's & Dementia. All courses meet state and federal guidelines and are taught by licensed nurses and other health care professionals. Successful completion of all three certified classes could make the graduate eligible to take the Arkansas Certified Nurse Aide Exam to become a licensed CNA.
