More about Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace

The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace is a designated National Historic Landmark, and hosts Girl Scouts troops from all over the United States. In 1860, Juliette Gordon Low was born in this home and it was from here that she made the phone call founding the Girl Scouts in Savannah on March 12, 1912. Juliette Gordon Low’s contributions to girl’s lives and to American culture have made her Birthplace a touchstone for Girl Scouts and alumnae. Girl Scouts of the USA purchased the site in 1953 and have been responsible stewards of the site keeping the nearly 200 year old home in excellent condition. The home is one of the few historic houses in Savannah with an elevator to serve guests. Guided tours and special programs are available throughout the year.
