Growing the arts locally in Waxhaw and surrounding areas. The Junior Art League of Waxhaw (JAL) was formed in January of 2013 to provide a resource that encourages High School Youth in 8-12th grade to Follow their artistic passion by Exploring their talents and then Sharing those talents with the community. This is a great way to gain exposure to a variety of art disciplines and also explore art as a possible career. The JAL empowers its members to become leaders in our organization as well as the community. Students will have access to monthly workshops led by professional local artists in mediums such as clay, pastels, mixed medias, glass, acrylic inks, watercolors, and more. Meetings are held 1-2 times per month on Sunday afternoons at the American Legion Hall of Waxhaw, or at local artist studios. Here students will create, develop, and implement permanent pieces of art that collaborate with town events and their own artistic styles.
