Juniper Ridge opens to rave reviews

Kurt Jacobson, along with Don and Boyd Corry, bring years of job expertise and business experience to their recent purchase of the old Traveler’s Inn, 2631 North Highway 89A, Fredonia. The Juniper Ridge Restaurant recently opened to rave reviews!

Long-time Kanab residents and Kanab Custom Meats owners, Don and Boyd Corry, are renowned for their business skills. The hard-working brothers have successfully operated the wholesale meat business for years after purchasing it from their father, Lamar Corry. The business sells and delivers high quality meat and seafood products to restaurants in Page, Beaver, Richfield and St. George.

Jacobson has been involved in restaurants most of his life, and apprenticed at Disneyland Hotel. He has created fine dining experiences for people in places as diverse as restaurants in the Sedona, Arizona area and Zion Mountain Resort!

“Boyd and I had been talking about opening a restaurant at this great location for quite some time,” said Jacobson. “I love Kanab and this beautiful area! I think this is a good space and a good fit.”

The interior and exterior of the new Juniper Ridge Restaurant will immediately catch your attention. It’s unique and interesting, with logs and log framing accents both inside and out that Jacobson designed. The seating area is spacious, giving visitors a definite sense of warmth.

Jacobson proudly gave me a tour of the enormous, immaculate kitchen. Large new baking and cooking equipment line the walls. And that’s especially needed, due to the chef’s insistence on quality. “We make everything from scratch! Desserts, breads, even our mayonnaise is made from scratch,” said Jacobson. “And obviously, we have top quality meats!”

The food is fabulous, with a diverse offering of salads, pastas and rice bowls, to steak, pork chops and ribs. The five desserts on the menu looked good, but there was no room after the large portion of the delicately seasoned steak!

Juniper Ridge has already received good community support. For instance, Garkane recently had a Christmas party for 75. Best Friends Animal Society held its annual staff holiday party at the Juniper Ridge. Barb Williamson, from Best Friends, said, “We had about 300 people at the event. Many of our employees are vegetarian or vegan and they provided many tasty options that added to the festivities. We are happy there is another good restaurant and event space in our community.”

Hours are currently Tuesday through Saturday for dinner from 5-9 p.m.
