I've studied dogs, especially German Shepherds and other high-drive dogs, for over twenty years. I currently live with four high-drive German Shepherds, my retired K9, a Belgian Malinois, a chihuahua, two cats, several fish and my corn snake, Lucy.
Obviously this requires a good knowledge of dog psychology, pack dynamics, and regular training of each animal.
Thanks to my K9, I have been gifted with training high level tasks with my dog. Still the bulk of my training is obedience - as it should be. Most of us just want a good companion animal that will be a pleasant, fun part of our family.
Obedience is the foundation of all further training. It is the foundation of good family life and of proper socialization of dogs.
