Kappa Delta Sorority was founded on October 23, 1897 at the State Female Normal School (now Longwood University) in Farmville, Virginia. Today there are over 135 different chapters with more than 200,000 members. The Beta Pi chapter at the University of Florida was chartered in 1948.

The purpose of Kappa Delta Sorority is to promote true friendship among college girls to our country by instilling into their hearts and lives the principles of truth, of honor, and of duty, without which there can be no true friendship.
