Karen Ann Soderberg-Gomez RNP, MSN, CWCN, CANP, is a remarkable certified adult nurse practitioner and wound care nurse who is currently serving patients as part of the wound care team at The Wound Care Center at South County in Wakefield, Rhode Island. South County Hospital's Wound Care Center has received the Healogics Robert A. Warriner III Center of Excellence 2012 Award for maintaining its high-quality care and consistent patient satisfaction levels. Karen features an impressive nursing background spanning 31 years with various areas of expertise including working in an outpatient wound clinic for the last 13 years, as well as pediatric nursing and medical/surgical nursing. Furthermore, she is an active preceptor for new nurses and Co-Leader Intercultural Nursing to Dominican Republic as a volunteer. She volunteers for a group that takes nurses, students, nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner students, and interpreters to the rural areas of the Dominican Republic, providing care and bringing supplies. Karen has also entered the field of skilled nursing facility care and provides care to a variety of patients needing wound care. Karen Ann Soderberg-Gomez RNP, MSN, CWCN, CANP, attended the Community College of Rhode Island in Warwick, Rhode Island, and received her associate degree in nursing in 1986. An advocate of continued education, she went to the University of Rhode Island College of Nursing in Kingston, Rhode Island, and completed her bachelor degree of science in nursing in 2003 and her master degree of science in nursing with Nurse Practitioner concentration in 2007. Karen is also a Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and Certified Wound Care Nurse and maintains active professional society membership with the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society. Past Member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Karen believes that she enjoys a successful career today due to her innate compassion for patients and desire to help to improve their health. In her spare time, she enjoys reading a variety of nursing journals and publications and dedicates to her favorite activities outside work, which includes yard work and bike riding. Karen is active as Co-Leader of Intercultural Nursing and takes a trip to the Dominican Republic every year to set up clinics, an endeavor she embraced in 2002.
