Kids have favorite toys. Adults have them, too. Mine has always been my camera.
I grew up in Prague in the Czech Republic and my mom, who was a photojournalist for local newspapers, gave me my first real photography lessons. After building a portfolio, I spent three years studying at the Photography Institute in Prague.
When I came to America on a photo trip, I wasn't sure quite what to expect. I certainly didn't expect for America to become home. Yet here I am seventeen years later with a great family, a thriving photography business and as much carpool duty as I can stand. Honestly, I love every minute of it.
I've been all over the world taking pictures of anything that would sit still and many things that wouldn't. And I still enjoy shooting events, corporate headshots and weddings. But my real, honest-to-goodness, "finally found it" passion is photographing children.
If I photograph your children, they may not be smiling as broadly as you'd like them to be and their collar or necklace may not be placed perfectly. But I can promise you at the end of the session you'll have a true picture of your child, a captured moment that reminds you who they truly were at that particular time in their lives.
And I can promise you'll cherish it for the rest of yours.
