Along with the physical training, Master Kauffman also teaches self-respect and to treat others with respect.
Master Kauffman started his training with Grand Master Yeen Lee Chong in 1965 at the age of six. He studied for 5 years before Master Chong would promote him to the rank of Shodan. Over the years Master Kauffman has won numerous championships on both the National and International levels in all divisions, including Kata, Sparring, Weapons and Demonstrations. He is the only American to travel to Japan and receive a gold medal at the 1977 Komikie Karate Nationals. He also won a gold medal at the 2002 World Cup Championship held in Hawaii.
Master Kauffman has studied in both the United States and the Orient. He has taught the United States Marines, United States National Guards, and at numerous law enforcement agencies, colleges and universities. He is also an AOK licensed referee.
