More about Kdsweets

KD Sweets was started in June of 2011, we started off as a school project considering I am in the Business Management program over at University of Phoenix. I will be graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Business Communication in June of 2012 and this project was a great way to test my knowledge and all the skills I have been learning for the last three and a half years.

I have always had a skill and a desire for decorating and making things with my hands. I design and create custom made jewelry as well as style friends and family members. I worked as a Hairstylists for 20 years in Los Angeles and the Antelope Valley. While attending the University of Phoenix I started thinking about all the other goals I wanted to accomplish after graduation and cake decorating was one of them.

I loved the artistry and creativeness that could be accomplished with cake designs, what I didnt like was the taste of the "fondant". I bought every magazine and looked at several websites knowing that I could achieve the same designs if I studied, took some classes and acquired some awesome recipes.

With no time to take formal classes because of school I began designing and creating cupcake styles on my own the same way I created my jewelry. My daughter kelyce once told me my designs were, "Mama pretty". That was to me the best compliment anyone had every given me.

Lady Di also thought it would be a great idea to use our church, Winners Circle Christian Center in Lancaster as a focus group for tasting, marketing and packaging ideas. The first cupcakes baked were Red Velvet and they were successful. Everyone stated that the designs were appealing but to them the taste was the most important factor, moist and delicious! With all of the compliments and ackowledgements the orders began pouring in. Within 5 days KD Sweets went from a school project to an actual business.

By July 2011 KD Sweets had acquired all the licenses needed and more than 20 flavors for the menu. Friends and family members called, texted, and e-mailed their favorite family recipes just to get us started. We are so thankful for all the "Old School Mothers" that gave us so much advice and Godly wisdom to get us this far.

This business is just not a business but an oppurtunity for me to spend more time with my mother, having her here in my life has been a blessing. My mom at this present moment is dealing with Leukemia a form of cancer that usually keeps a persons spirit and will to live down. But not my mom, she is a fighter and having this business as well as wanting to spend more time with her family has given her that oppurtunity.

With time, patience, and plenty of hard work, we believe that KD Sweets will be successful and a positive addition to the business community in the Antelope Valley. We look forward to participating in upcoming community events and being a solid financial resource for the several non-profit organizations that myself and Lady Di are affiliated with.
