More about Kent State University Marching Golden Flashes

The Marching Golden Flashes are one of the premiere performing ensembles at the Hugh A. Glauser School of Music at Kent State University. As the largest student organization on campus, the student members of the MGF represent virtually every major available at Kent State University.

The Marching Golden Flashes are a unique college marching band in that many of their song selections and show themes are inspired by the rich Northeast Ohio culture. The 2013 season will feature shows that pay tribute to some recognizable power rock tunes by bands such as the Foo Fighters, Metallica, and Creedance Clearwater Revival, a symbolic clink of the martini glass to the 50th Anniversary of James Bond, a celebration of songs and performing artists who have been a part of the Blossom Music Center performance series, and a celebration honoring our many current and veteran service men and women.

The Marching Golden Flashes are under the direction of Dr. John Franklin, who is in his first year as the Director of Athletic Bands at Kent State University along with the new Director of Bands, Dr. Jesse Leyva. Fans of the Golden Flashes are encouraged to follow the MGF at Twitter (@ksumgf) as well as on Facebook (www.facebook.com/ksumgf).
