">The Kentucky Houndsmen Association, Inc. primarily serves, but is not limited to, all sportsmen in Kentucky who enjoy hunting with hounds. Our primary goal is to protect and preserve the hunting heritage of the sportsmen in the great state of Kentucky.
Here are some highlights in the history of the Kentucky Houndsmen Association.
1985 - Founded
1987 - Fought to keep a running season for raccoon open and unzoned
1990s- Ban lifted on 22 rifles in the 7th Wildlife District imposed by former Commissioner
1990s- Legislation written that exempted dog hunting activities from "cruelty to animal laws" (we hade to override Governor's veto)
1992 - Members filled a courtroom during a lawsuit filed by animal rights group that sued the KDFWR to have shakeout season abolished
1996 - Helped write and pass a "Concealed Carry" law for handguns
2012 - Launched new Website
2012 - Raccoon running season opens on Oct 1st keeping them from being put on the nuisance animals list
2012 - Use of coon squallers year round
2012 - Bird Dog Training open year round with pin-reared bobwhite and limit raised from 50 to 100
2012 - A running and Bear Harvest Season Approved for 2012
