Since 1981 King of the Mountain has dedicated our focus to the successful completion of missions in hostile cold weather environments. We've done that by creating our own exclusive fabrics. Our original Omnitherm and Omnilite were a revolution in concealment and insulation technology using wool fiber. For the next 28 years our experimentation with natural fiber in combination with separate yarns woven into the fabric rather than carded into the yarn itself has resulted in the first true revolution in natural fiber technology. We call it KarbonXtreme. It's a totally new, patent-pending weave that scientifically creates a high tech, radiant, fire retardant, machine washable, scent supprescent single layer that is up to 12 times more radiant than other woolens. At the same time the cotton in the warp allows the garment to be comfortably worn in thermostatically controlled, warmer conditions without becoming too hot to be comfortable. These fabrics use a hi-tech weaving technique to create a fabric that creates its own low level infra-red heat using wool, carbon and pararamid (Kevlar). They are also ounce for ounce more fire retardant and ARC Flash protective than Dupont's NOMEX yet comfortable to wear even indoors.
