Kitsap Judo Club

Judo is a sport of unarmed combat derived from Japanese jujitsu and is intended to train the body and mind. It involves using holds and leverage to unbalance the opponent. Judo is currently an Olympic sport and has many similarities to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. No striking (kicking and punching) technique is taught in this martial art. The goal is to control your opponent through various grappling techniques. All new students are taught the essential foundations of ukemi (falling/tumbling) to help keep practice safe. Judo's philosophy and history are also mandated for beginners to learn in order to preserve this wonderful Japanese martial art.
