Knights Of Pythias

The fraternal Order of the Knights of Pythias boast a beautiful ritual based on the remarkable story of the boundless friendship between two men of ancient times-Damon and Pythias. Its foundings took place in 1864 in Washington DC with the institution of its first lodge. Chartered by an act of the US Congress when Abe Lincoln was president. Three presidents became members: William McKenley, Warren G.Harding, and Franklin D. Roosevelt The Order does not seek to shape the creed of its members reguarding religion, although we require that every applicant seeking membership must have a belief in a Supreme Being. We do not inquire as to the particular religion of any applicant. Members worship the Supreme Being based on their personal choice.

Through the rituals of Our Order Present at every lodge meeting is an open Bible and the flag of our country in which the lodge is located, each displayed with dignity and love. These symbols signify that the Pythians have a belief in a Supreme Being and love for their country.
