Knotts/Edwards was named for Lucile Knotts and P.D. Edwards, two people who were involved with Ball State during its early history.
Knotts was a Burris School teacher from 1929 until her retirement in 1953. She was considered a truly inspiring teacher with a genuine interest in young people.
Edwards was the head of the mathematics department at Ball State. After his retirement in 1962, he taught at the Air Force Institute of Technology and Rose Polytechnic Institute, now known as Rose-Hulman.
