Kountry Folks Homestyle Restaurant

Kountry Folks Restaurant is an independent restaurant in Riverside, California owned by Pat and Erin House. They have owned the restaurant since October, 1998.

Erin came to Kountry Folks in 1990 as general manager, when it was owned by the RTM Restaurant Group in Atlanta. They were blessed enough to be able to buy the restaurant in 1998, but not without their share of trials during the purchasing process. It even looked for a while like it might not even happen. One Sunday evening in August or September of 1990, when the negotiations to buy the business were going poorly, Pat and Erin went to the Sunday evening service at Harvest Christian Fellowship. While walking up to the church, Erin spotted a new white Chevy pickup that had "Is. 41:10" in red letters on the doorpost. He didn't know that verse, but he remembered it later in the service when his attention started to wander. He grabbed his Bible, looked up the passage, and read:

"Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."

He closed his Bible and bowed his head right then and there. He prayed, "OK, Lord, if You want it, You can have it. If You want us to own this place, I will commit it to be a ministry for You, however you would lead us."

God honored Erin's prayer that night. The purchasing process was completed soon after, and the rest, as they say, was history. Erin asked God how they should minister for Him, and was led to Isaiah 55:11:

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."

That is why you will see Bible scriptures quoted in the menu and around the restaurant, and why Kountry Folks has Bibles available for any who need them. Pat and Erin feel God has led them to put His word out for all to read. He has talked with, and prayed with, many people who have found answers and comfort in God's word.

From the beginning, it's been our goal and desire to provide great kountry food and great kountry service in a friendly and welcoming Christian environment. We want Kountry folks to always be a place where folks feel welcome, can get plenty of good food, and perhaps some nourishment for the spirit, too.
