Kovener's Korner

In 1949, Bill and Lena Faye Kovener opened a small soft-serve ice cream store in Seymour, Indiana. The couple bought and converted a Standard Oil gasoline station, owned by Lena Faye’s parents, into one of Seymour’s very first drive-in restaurants. The store became well known for serving a wide variety of flavors including a special Chocolate Malt ice cream. The special recipe, still used today, has shaped a summertime tradition for many Seymour families. The store and tradition remain in business under owner Lena Faye Kovener and is managed by members of the Kovener family.
