Kurdistan Regional Government - Representation in the USA

For almost two decades—since the Kurdistan Region was first liberated with the help of American forces during “Operation Provide Comfort” in 1991—the Kurdistan Regional Government has been working to build its government, infrastructure, economy and social institutions to become a positive, contributing member of the global community. To this end, the people of the Kurdistan Region are doing their part to help the country of Iraq along its path towards increased stability, security, and democracy, in accordance with our federal constitution.

As we continue to progress, we are reassured by the commitment of the United States Government to a long-term, strategic relationship with Iraq and the KRG.

We in the Kurdistan Region remain thankful for the sacrifices made by the U.S. to liberate Iraq. We are further proud of the fact that no American has been killed or injured in the Kurdistan Region in almost 20 years. This fact stands as a testament to the friendship that exists between the people of the Kurdistan Region and Americans, as well as to the shared values that exist between us.
