More about Kurt Gardner Photography Gallery

Kurt Gardner, is a Local Adirondack Photographer... who also happens to work as an Advertising & Fashion photographer in Nyc or wherever else assignments take him. The photographs presented here today were taken in and around Old Forge.

Nature Inspires Us All, isn’t that one of the reasons you are here today? For Kurt in 2014, nature was not only inspirational but thankfully, healing. That year he suffered a medical emergency where three discs and two vertebrae were removed from his neck. After a second surgery was necessary he was unable to work for 8 months. However, he did not sit life out... just because the Dr.’s thought he should. He went out into nature at all hours of the day & night and lost himself in the beauty and resilience of the Adirondacks. The energy of this place helped to heal his spirit and his body.

Kurt, hopes you enjoy these photographs which were taken during a transitional period in his life... some may call it a low point. Yet with every click of his camera a higher purpose arose, he hopes you too can be lifted by the beauty of this amazing place!

For as long as I can recall there has been a camera in my hand.
Growing up, my father John Gardner would always have cameras and film in the house, playing with these items was was normal in our home.
However, my fathers actual job was unknown to me other than he worked at KODAK. He'd get up eat breakfast and go to work, he'd come home be with us kids, dinner and bed for another day of the same.

One day it was "Bring your child to work day".
So we got up ate breakfast and off to work we went...my reaction to seeing massive developing tanks, photo studios and enlargers was a bit confusing.
I quickly learned how amazing my father's job really was.
My dad John Gardner was a Master Black & White printer for KODAK.

I became hooked on the process of photography and the developing of the film itself that day.

Watching the actual massive fibre based prints on a vacuum board wall, with an 8x10 enlarger mounted on the floor track in this huge movie theatre style dark room was beyond impressive.
Everything finally made sense.

Today 20+ years as later I can still recall that first introduction into what would become a lifetime love of photography.

I am grateful everyday that I get to do what I love.
