More about KWTO News Talk Radio

KWTO-AM is one of the oldest standing radio stations in the Springfield area. KWTO was founded in 1933 by Ralph Roster. Foster applied for and got the call letters KWTO, which stood for "Keep Watching The Ozarks." Since the Federal Radio Commission prohibited playing recorded music on the air, the station also had its own live bands including: Slim Wilson, Chet Atkins, and the Carter Family.

In 1990, KWTO ended it's music format and became the Ozarks' first full-time news-talk radio station, which carries the programs of talk-show hosts including Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura Ingraham, Jim Bohannon (who once worked at the station), and computer guru Kim Komando. The station also carries local "Ask the Pro's" Monday - Friday.

Since 1933, the station has been bought by Mr. Kenneth Meyer and is apart of the 5 station family at Meyer Communications. To this day, KWTO is one of the largest AM frequencies and spans over half of Missouri and into Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

Keep Watching The Ozarks!
