More about The Church of the Epiphany

During the 60s and 70s the Church of the Epiphany was an active center in the struggle for the civil rights for Chicanos. The Church was the home of the Chicano newspaper La Raza, which was first published in its basement, the Chicano Movement had a home there, the Brown Berets organized themselves there; Cesar Chavez used the Parish Hall as an organizing center for the get out the
vote campaigns. In addition to their political activism Epiphany’s clergy—John Luce, Roger Wood, and Oliver Garver—and its parishioners began a renaissance of Latino culture which celebrated their history.
