La Rouge 23 Restaurant

La Rouge 23 is a Modern American Resturant owned by Leonard J Overton Jr. and His wife Kimberly. Leonard is the chef and his wife is the front of the house manager. Leonard attended school at Wilkes University where he stayed for a year before leaving to peruse his aspiration of becoming a chef. He then came back home and attended Mercer County's Culinary Institue. While in school he started his career at the Jasna Polana golf club in Lawrenceville NJ, where he was drilled on the basics of cooking and the importance of building flavor. After a year and a half of learning classical French cooking techniques, he then put those teachings to good use at the well-known Blue Bottle cafe in Hopewell NJ. Six months later, Leonard realized that he had true potential to run a kitchen and was hired at Triumph Brewing Company in Princeton NJ as a Sous Chef. Shortly after, he decided to help out a friend Chris Voigtsberger in helping him take on and run his own restaurant, Acacia restaurant of Lawrenceville. After a year of teaming up to give Acacia the reputation it deserves, Leonard realized that it was his turn to take on the privilege of owning and operating his own establishment and making his own mark. And that brings us to today with the ownership of his first Resturant La Rouge 23.
