Welcome to La Vanilla Bean Patisserie. Let me introduce myself, my name is Kay Lynn Broadhead and I am the owner and pastry chef of this quaint European style patisserie located in downtown Idaho Falls. The dream began when I was a small child baking cream puffs, piroshkies, and sweet rolls next to my mother. I have continued the art of baking for family, friends, and small groups over the last 50 years as a past time. Until recently I had been teaching Communication at Idaho State University for 20 years when the opportunity to pursue my dream presented itself. I packed my bags and drove to Montpelier, Vermont to begin this extraordinary journey at the New England Culinary Institute. While attending the Institute I completed an internship at the Sun Valley Bakeshop at the Sun Valley Lodge and graduated with a pastry certificate in 2011. I continue to return to Norwich, Vermont at the King Arthur Baking School to expand my experiences and product knowledge. I baked for 3 farmers markets in the Boise area in 2012 and relocated to establish my bakery in this beautiful community by the falls in June, 2012.
