Lafitte is a census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 972 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans - Metairie - Kenner Metropolitan Statistical Area.Located at the southern end of Louisiana Highway 45 along Bayou Barataria, fishing is a major part of the local economy and culture.GeographyLafitte is located at .According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.8sqmi, of which, 5.7sqmi of it is land and 2.1sqmi of it is water.DemographicsAs of the census of 2000, there were 1,576 people, 556 households, and 439 families residing in the CDP.
