Lagniappe Place

Lagniappe Place is the newest guesthouse in scenic Jersey County, Illinois. Situated on four acres of rolling hills near Grafton, Lagniappe Place welcomes guests to a serene landscape adjacent to the new Grafton Vineyard and Winery and Eckert’s Orchard.

“Lagniappe” is a French word popular in the South that means “a little something extra.” Owners Joe and Leisa Soer chose the name because it reflects the beyond-the-ordinary experience they have created. Their guests will enjoy:
• Wine-and-cheese happy hours on Fridays and Saturdays.
• A continental breakfast and evening snack.
• A fully stocked kitchen for the guests to cook in if they so desire.
• Wine glasses, frosted beer mugs, drink ware.
• Keurig coffee and microwave popcorn available 24/7.
• Games, books and DVD’s.
• Hair dryers in each room and steamer, iron and ironing board for guest use.

Guests may reserve the entire three-bedroom, 1,694-square-foot house or a single bedroom. Each of the three bedrooms – Chardonel, Chambourcin, and Norton – includes a sitting area and private bath. The guesthouse also includes the full kitchen, dining room, and a living room with a television.

Lagniappe Place is the Soers’ retirement dream. The couple has for 35 years traveled the United States exploring vineyards and wineries and is thrilled to plant their own vineyard this spring on this property. They invite you to their guesthouse to watch the sun set over the grapevines, sit by an outdoor fire, toss rocks into the lake, and explore the historic town of Grafton at the confluence of the Illinois and Mississippi rivers.
