Lake Murray Nature Center @ Tucker Tower is a new facility that opened in March 2013. The Nature Center is located at the bottom of the hill, which leads you up to Tucker Tower.
Tucker Tower is a historic building that has long been an icon in South Central Oklahoma. The tower was built by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in the early 1930's, to be a governor's retreat for Oklahoma's governor at that time, William H. "Alfalfa Bill" Murray. Construction on the tower was not completed until the 1950's, and was turned into a Geological Museum. It later served as the Nature Center, until the new Nature Center was built. The tower is now a historical museum for the WPA and Civilization Conservation Core (CCC). Come by and check out our new Nature Center and enjoy the views of beautiful Lake Murray!!
