More about Lake Stevens Rowing Club

LSRC, formerly known as NW Legends Rowing Club, was established in 1996 by original board members Bobbi Constantine, Barb Cummins, Bob Cummins, Jan Griffith-Mower, Scott Holmgren, Kathy McCormack, and Brian Wagner.

In 1997 NW Legends Rowing Club became incorporated as a non-profit organization. Initially the club's base centered around occasional rows on the lake by local residents. In 1999, a formal partnership was formed with the City of Lake Stevens and the club name was formally changed to Lake Stevens Rowing Club. Since its early beginnings all shells and equipment have been 2nd and 3rd hand, either gifted or on loan from private individuals.

A high school rowing program was initiated in Fall of 2002, by volunteers Scott Holmgren and Brian Wagner, and has grown to over 40 team members. In 2003 a competitive masters program was introduced. Over the years LSRC has hosted numerous regattas including the James Gardner Challenge, our annual Bull Trout, and the Northwest Collegiate Rowing Championships. Fundraising efforts allowed us to purchase and construct a boat shed which was completed in Fall of 2006.

Our members have won several USRowing Regional Titles and our membership includes three USRowing National Champions. Bob Cummins has been named the NW Region Contributor of the Year in 2004 and received national recognition as the recipient of USRowing Referee's Julian Wolfe Award in 2005. In 2006, we purchased our 1st new rowing shell, a Pocock 2X!
