More about Lakeside Advanced Builders

L.A.B. Is now a certified Passive House Builder, a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Envelope specialist, and a Blow In Blanket System (BIBS) installer. A Passive House is a super insulated home that is designed and built to use 15% of the energy of a code built house. BPI training means we know how to airseal and insulate existing homes safely. BIBS is the most cost effective insulation on the market, according to the founder of the Passive House Institute of the U.S.

Are you considering buying a New Home? How much will it cost to heat? How much do you WANT it to cost to heat? Would you like a home built to future standards or a brand new 20 year old home? A Passive House is built to the toughest building code in the world making it extremely energy efficient, very long lasting, and is extremely well designed. We know how to build new homes that are way ahead of building codes in terms of energy efficiency and using the current latest technology. Building performance in all homes should be very important. A new home should also be built with good air quality, comfortable, safe to live in. Our homes are tested and inspected by building science professionals to verify that they are built right. It is very cost effective to build beyond current building codes.

Some homeowners get kind of discouraged about their home and talk about moving to another one. If you like where you live, why trade in your known problems for new problems in a different place? Fixing the home you are in can look much more attractive.

We can come and look at your existing home and make suggestions at no cost to you. If you are building a new home, we can look at your plans and make suggestions as to insulating and sealing it up to make it more energy efficient.. We install the Blow-In_Blanket System, (BIBS), which is blown in fiberglass. BIBS combined with 1.5 inches of rigid foam board gives an R-value of 30.5 for about the same cost as blown in foam, but the foam is only about R-19 to 21 depending on the foam used. We combine this wall system with advanced air sealing techniques to make homes that are the tightest in the state. Insulation in a new home should be part of the design process and not an after thought.

As a BPI specialist we have the training, experience and the tools to make your home more energy efficient, with better air quality, and more comfortable, while doing it safely. We have the tools to test your home and measure results. It is very important to do home improvements correctly so the home is not damaged by incorrect airsealing and insulating. The home should also be tested to make sure the indoor air quality is not damaged and to maintain safety from carbon monoxide.

Here are some of the comments we hear from our customers; “Your company installed insulation in our home in May 2009. It made a significant difference in the ability of our central air conditioning to keep our home cool last summer. We have also noticed our home feels much warmer this winter, especially the kitchen which was a problem last winter, and so far we have have not noticed any icicles hanging from our roof.” Carol C. From Bill G;” My house is the best, I love it!” From Ken T: “As of the first week in Feb. of '09 we have saved 230 therms of gas over the winter before. The winter of '07-'08 was also much warmer than '08-'09, so the cost saving was significant.”
The building codes are changing toward better homes, there are programs in effect and more coming, and incentives available to make improvements easier to existing homes and to improve the efficiency of new homes. We can help! We want to help! It is not just about making money or saving money. What are you going to leave behind when you are gone?
