Lakesongs Music & Movement Class

What is a Lakesongs class like?

On this eight week course we will explore different cultures through their traditional sounds, songs and dance. It is a colorful and fun way to gain exposure to various tonal qualities, rhythms and unique musical instruments each culture provides to the world. Each class children will learn and practice one new rhythm structure, one new dance and one new song. Keeping it simple and repetitive throughout each class is the best way for a child to feel confident, both in learning and performing. We will begin with the same “Hello Song” and end with a lay down “Meditation Moment”, but everything in between will be different. The balance between the old and the new is a wonderful breeding ground for the acceptance of new information. I strongly believe that young children and babies have an incredible potential for understanding the complex structures of music and being positively influenced by it throughout their life.
