Lambertville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is served by the Lambertville Post Office. The Lambertville ZIP code, 48144, serves the southwest part of Bedford Township and portions of adjacent Whiteford Township. The CDP is entirely within Bedford Township, and the population was 9,953 at the 2010 census.HistoryThe Lambertville post office opened as "West Erie" on June 13, 1834. The name changed to Lambertville on January 15, 1836. It was discontinued on March 23, 1865, and reestablished on December 4, 1865. Lambertville was platted in 1888, and named for John Lambert, the original owner of the town site.GeographyAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.1sqmi, of which 6.1sqmi is land and 0.04sqmi, or 0.33%, is water.DemographicsAs of the census of 2000, there were 9,299 people, 3,315 households, and 2,665 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,530.1 per square mile (590.5/km²). There were 3,376 housing units at an average density of 555.5 per square mile (214.4/km²).
