In January 2002, Mel Lamont purchased Houston Embroidery Works. At that time, HEW’s core business was monograms for individuals. During the next eleven years the company shifted its core business away from monograms and became focused on a business to business marketing strategy. The shift in HEW’s core business has fueled a growth of 20 times its size in 2002 and propelled the company into the top 3% of all companies within their industry. Another major factor that contributed to this explosive growth was when Mel’s twin sons, Mel Jr, and Jerry, joined the company in 2005 after serving a tour in Iraq with the United States Marine Corps.
In 2013 the company was restructured and Lamont Brands Inc. was formed. It is a veteran owned corporation with certified service disabled veteran status pending. Our in house embellishment capabilities includes screen-printing, embroidery, rhinestones, heat press transfers, and thermal flex designs, as well as, e commerce solutions and onsite fulfillment services.
