The Lancaster Township Fire Department protects about a six square mile area and about 14,000 people on the western edge of Lancaster City in Lancaster County, PA. The department responds out of two stations and operates 3 engine companies, 1 ladder company, 1 heavy rescue company, 1 marine company, and several support vehicles. The LTFD responds to approximately 550 runs on an annual basis which include structure fires, vehicle accidents, miscellaneous fires, fire alarms, and public service calls. LTFD's district is primarily residential with several high-income mansions, low-income housing complexes, townhouse communities, and many single family homes. There are 2 strip malls, several churches, and multiple restaurants in the first due area. Lancaster Township also has several major traffic routes which cross through the district including Route 999, Route 23, Route 462, Route 324, Route 272, Route 222, and Route 741.
