Joe K. Taylor has over 25 years of practice serving both Texas and out of state clients in the areas of business law and state and local tax. His experience includes business formations including registrations, mergers and acquisitions due diligence, dissolutions, contracts, corporate formalities, and state and local tax issues for small businesses. Dovetailing his business law experience, he is well-versed in wills, trusts, and estates for business owners and private individuals. He is also available for probate matters.
He has experience in the private practice of law and in public accounting with regional and big 4 accounting firms in the areas of small business advisory and consulting in various corporate matters and state and local income and franchise taxes including business expansions, controversy, voluntary disclosures, offers in compromise and dispute resolution with state taxing authorities.
Mr. Taylor is a recognized and respected member of the SALT community having been a speaker at the annual North American Petroleum Accounting Conference on matters related to identifying and tracking uncertain tax positions and published an article in the Petroleum Accounting and Financial Management Journal on this subject; and also, having been a testifying expert witness on the Tax Franchise (Margin) Tax and on section 104 of the Internal Revenue Code.
