The City of Akron's Lawton Street Community Center opened its doors in 1996. The center serves as one of west Akron's recreation destination, located at 1225 Lawton Street, Akron, Ohio 44320. The facility offers approximately 12,000 square feet of indoor space within the Community Building and the Recreation Building.
The Recreation Building features a game room and a gymnasium that host a variety of basketball leagues, as well as youth sports camps and classes. Also, located right above the game room is the satellite office of Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge.
Lawton Street Community Center provides activities for all members of the family. Kids can sign up for the Summer Fun Camp, After School Program, Soccer Camp, Girls Volleyball, Tiny Tot Basketball, Youth Basketball and much more. Adults also have a variety of activities, including Aerobics, Line & Hand Dancing, Adult Gym & Exercise, and Universal Nursing.
