Learn Scuba Chicago

Learn Scuba Chicago started in a garage around 2008. Originally, the plan was to run a dive boat in Lake Michigan and teach a little.

Then, we started to multiple like snails and dance like sea horses. Years swam by, one compressor, then two. Staff of 7, 14, 20 something....it just keeps growing... Garage becomes warehouse morphs into storefront. Mix in Scubamax, Scuba Pro, GoPro and XS Scuba. Mix a bit of travel, some nitrox, add water...

We chased our collective interests in scuba themes: teaching, working with Vets, working with the disabled, cool gear, traveling, camping, adventure... It's been a typhoon of excitement.

Many faces faces have come, several have stuck, a few have swam along - but at the end, it's harder to understand or classify us than coral. We are teens to forties, students and professionals, the lost, the reborn, the ones with a plan, the ones without a clue, conservative, crazy, parents, children - we are you. If you cannot realte to 6 LSC staffers - then you need some deep water meditation time.

In 2013, we discovered that we weren't rich - monetarily. And that didn't bother us - it inspired us. By the end of 2014, LSC will emerge an official not-for-profit organization. Because, that's what we are about. We are about fun, saving the Earth, saving you through scuba if ya need it, working with the ones that protect us at night and with those that are less fortunate than us, diving with kids, diving with students, diving with each other - let's just say, we are an eclectic group of individuals that are building our own reef based here in Chicago - one we hope will be explored and inhabited for centuries to come.
