The first church building was built 1-1/2 miles north of the present site. It was known initially as old campground Church because of outdoor camp meetings held at the site. In 1836 a charter was drawn up and the local church site was named Bethany
In 1857, Leasburg Church was built at its present site, and services were moved from Bethany to Leasburg. The local Masonic order, needing a meeting site, helped church leaders to build a large two-story building, with the Masons using the second floor and the sanctuary the first.
A century later, in 1950, a new church building replaced the old one. The current sanctuary and educational wing were dedicated on May 17,1953. A steeple with chimes was added in 1963 and a fellowship hall was added in 1967.
