The Liberty Chapel Volunteer Fire Department is located in the southern portion of rural Johnson County, Texas. The department provides full fire protection, rescue, and Emergency Medical Services as a Texas Department of Health Registered First Responder Organization providing basic life support services.
The area served by Liberty Chapel VFD is an unincorporated, 52 square mile district with a population of approximately 6000 persons. This rural area is made up primarily of individual properties with typical tracts containing from 5 to 100+ acres, with a scattering of larger tracts dedicated to farming or ranching. Recently the region also began playing a large part in natural gas production in the Barnett Shale exploration.
