More about Liberty Ministries Family Worship Center

Liberty Ministries Family Worship Inc. was birth out of Pastor Willie R. Ellis, Jr. November of 2000. God spoke clear and gave him the name of the ministry "Liberty", 2 Corinthians 3:17 - "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is LIBERTY." He wrestle with the call of God but he finally yield to the voice of God. He did not share this with his wife until January 1, 2001. She was very supportive about what God had called him to do and has been by his side every step of the way. After much prayer God gave them favor and allowed them to lease a space at the Airport Executive Suites, 2459 Roosevelt Highway in College Park, Georgia. The first service was held Sunday, February 4, 2001 at 10:45 a.m.
The word was spoken by many that they did not see us in our current location for a long period of time. August of 2001 Pastor Ellis inquired about a church in Conley, Georgia by the grace of God we were able to obtain a long term lease. We walked through the doors of our second location on September 2, 2001, at 1588 Conley Road in Conley, Georgia. However, God was still developing the ministry and molding leadership during that time. While we were at this location we had our first summer camp program, youth explosion, distributed thanksgiving basket, gave toys to those in need, served lunch at the women and children shelter and distributed brown bags lunches to the homeless in downtown Atlanta. Due to damage of the structure to the building, we were forced to move out of the building and were homeless for a month. First Conley Baptist Church, of Conley, Georgia a ministry that did not know anything about us, opened their doors and allowed us to temporarily have worship services. A month we went back to our roots on Roosevelt highway for seven months. Our faith was still being tested. We were able to see God move in a mighty way knowing that He was with us.
Pastor Ellis enquired of a building on Sylvan Road. He was told that the building was available and later they said it was not. Because he saw vision the first time and enquired again. God again gave us favor and we were able to worship in that building for two years. During our 4th Church Anniversary God spoke a word to Pastor Ellis concerning our own building, our year of grace. February 16, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. the ministry closed on 452 Springside Drive with 3.5 acres of undeveloped land. After moving in the build we learn that it was in need of a lot of work. God still working allowed us to sell the building within four months of putting it on the market during a tough economy. Currently, we are located at 2520 Memorial Drive in Atlanta.
We are in covenant with the United Churches of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Aaron B. Lackey. Our spiritual father is Bishop Stephen A. Thomas of Community Fellowship Church of Ministries in Dalton, Georgia. Dr. Thomas has been someone that has always given us an encouraging word and has been our father figure. God has called this ministry to Renew, Reflect, and Reach-out.
