More about Life Issues

Some of our students are involved in other recovery programs, and choose to come to our weekly meetings for additional support from other students and leaders, and edification from the scriptures. However, in addition to our weekly meetings, if a student desires to use our ministry as their primary source of recovery, below is a description of what is required to complete (graduate) our program.
Although we believe that there are other ways and programs that are effective in helping people to become clean from drug addictions and sober from alcohol addictions, we believe that only the truth makes people free. Jesus said that he is “the truth” (John 14:6), and John 17:17 says that God’s “word is truth”.
Understanding that truth is found in the person of Jesus Christ. Our ministry and it’s workers strive to introduce our students to him, and bring them into a saving relationship with him by trusting him as their personal Lord and Savior.
Once a student is saved and their soul is made free by Jesus, we use Reformers Unanimous’ (RU) discipleship material as a tool to guide them in God’s word, to make their body free. Below is an overview of the RU curriculum and Life Issues meeting requirements:

1. The student must complete the RU “Strongholds” book, which has approximately 100 challenges, all of which are verified by a Life Issues leader/sponsor.

- 10 of the challenges require reading the 10 chapters of the RU book, “Nevertheless I Live”.
- Some of the challenges involve developing a prayer list and a personal prayer journal.
- Several of the challenges involve attending a Bible believing church service as well as a Sunday school class, verified by pastor’s and teachers.
- Most of the challenges involve Bible reading, Bible study, Bible memorization and meditation.

2. The student must attend 25 Life Issues meetings, which aides and supports the RU material, principles of recovery, and give the student a structure and fellowship from which they can grow and achieve victory over their addiction’s through Jesus Christ and his word.

As you can see, upon completion of our program the student will have renewed their mind with the Bible, and developed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. So, the ultimate goal of Life Issues is not to recover from addiction, it is to make disciples of Jesus Christ; recovery will be a bi-product of that relationship.

There is no charge to attend our weekly meetings, or to receive counseling in small groups or one on one. Currently our curriculum is free as well, so all our program will cost you is your time and your heart, as you give it to Jesus. Feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.
