OUR VISION & MISSION STATEMENTS

Vision Statement

We are called to Glorify God and enjoy Him through our Life’s Journey as we serve one another.

Mission Statement

To equip one another to be on mission for Christ because we exist to bring glory to God through lives changed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In order to fulfill our mission:

Kingdom Mindset.
We want to take our resources, along with our time, and energy to be about the Kingdom of God. That doesn’t mean that we are going to neglect one another, but it does mean that we are going to be intentional to be Christ to a dark and hopeless world. This means our mindset is focused on blessing others. Whether it’s McDonnell School, the YMCA, another church or people within our community or around the world. We are His Light and His Salt wherever He takes us. We are a part of the whole. There is one church. There is one name. There is one renown. There is one eternal bride of Christ.
Glorify God in everything.
We want to worship Him in everything and all the time. We do not want to participate in anything, or speak into anything that will not Glorify God.
Love others as Christ loves.
This is what is attractive & compelling. We will only judge the people who are in Christ that we have a relationship with.
Make disciples.
Wherever we are this is our goal. He must increase, we must decrease.
We have only one shot at this. Why not give it our best shot?

Baptism

For many, baptism is the first public step of obedience to Christ. Baptism is for the individual who has received the saving benefits of Christ's atoning work and has become His disciple. Therefore, in obedience to Christ's command and as a testimony to God, the church, oneself and the world, a believer should be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Baptism is symbolic of what has already taken place in an individuals life. Baptism does not save you. Water baptism is a visual and symbolic demonstration of a person's union with Christ in the likeness of His death and resurrection. It signifies that his former way of life has been put to death and vividly depicts a person's release from the mastery of sin. Life’s Journey practices and teaches "believer's baptism."

Lord’s Supper

Life’s Journey practices open communion. This means that the Lord’s Supper is for those who have trusted and believe in Christ Jesus. We believe the Lord’s Supper is symbolic of the cross, a reminder of our faith in Him and a celebration of what He has done on our behalf.

We Believe

In essential beliefs - we have unity.
"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit - just as you were called to one hope when you were called - one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and in all."
Eph. 4:3-6

In non-essential beliefs - we have liberty.
"Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters...for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand....So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another...So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God."
Rom. 14:1,3,12,22

In all our beliefs - we show love.
"If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing."
1 Cor. 13:2

Story of Redemption

The story of redemption is the story of a just and loving God calling lost and rebellious creatures back to Himself. He has been writing this grand and glorious narrative of His goodness and grace since before time began. We enter into His story at creation. For His glory, God created this world good and peaceful and offered us the opportunity of unbroken fellowship with Himself. However, as Genesis 3 tells us, things went wrong. Through one man's disobedience, we fell from this joyful state of fellowship. Sin entered our hearts, and with that sin, the world became twisted and fractured.

The harmony and peace that creation once enjoyed was damaged by sin and broken in disrepair. Since that time, God has patiently and purposefully continued the story of redemption. God sent His only Son, Jesus, who came and lived a perfect, sinless life and offered Himself as a sacrifice for our sin on the cross. Jesus endured God's wrath on behalf of sin. It was a dark and horrendous moment of suffering and death, yet peace and beauty and hope burst forth as Christ rose three days later from the grave. What was once broken God restored through His Son. Through Christ we are offered restoration and reconciliation. God takes that which is broken and makes it new. The Father invites His children into relationship with Him and into the newness of life Christ offers. We urge you to explore this story further. What God starts, He will bring to completion, and we pray that you would be woven into the narrative.

If you feel Christ inviting you into this story — inviting you into restored relationship with the living God — turn to Him in repentance and put your trust in Him and the work He accomplished on the cross to redeem you and save you.
