More about Lincolnton Fire Department

Believed to be formed in the 1890’s with Henry Taylor as Chief. The LFD possessed a single pump on wheels that pumped from a cistern on the court square. In 1907 the LFD was officially organized by G.W. McAllister as Chief with 12 volunteers. The first fire truck was purchased in 1917 named “Betsy”. The next truck was in 1925 named “Big Liz”, later changed the name to the famous “Hully”. The original fire station was located where City Lunch is today. After two annexations and a dissolved contract with Boger City Fire Dept. the City of Lincolnton opened fire station #2 on Ross Street. The Lincolnton Fire Dept. strives to provide personnel and equipment to all scenes within the city in less than 5 minutes. The LFD staffs 2 engines and a ladder every day with 7 personnel on each shift.
