Ever since Anna Pump opened the Loaves & Fishes Food Store in 1980, the store has served fine prepared foods for takeaway to Sagaponack, East Hampton, and its extended Hamptons community.
Sagaponack, itself, in its native Shinnecock Indian dialect means “land of the big ground nuts” or in modern-day English, "potatoes." The connection is important to the history of Loaves & Fishes: the potato farms and terroir of Eastern Long Island are a near perfect match to Anna’s original home of Tarp, Germany.
These days at the store you will find Anna cooking and managing the kitchen alongside her grandchildren Stefan and Karina. As the family has grown, so too have the family's businesses and culinary repetoire: adding The Bridgehampton Inn & Restaurant in 1994 and the Loaves & Fishes Cookshop in 2003.
