I hear over and over again from dentists across the country: “I just want to do dentistry and let someone else handle the rest.” Operating a dental practice isn’t hard. However, making it a successful one is. I would like to take this opportunity to discuss my background and a few of my professional accomplishments.

I started in the dental profession as a salesman for a really great growing consulting company. That had a firm grasp on what was needed to grow a practice. It didn’t take very long for me to realize that I enjoyed working with dentists. I wanted to help them grow and accomplish their goals as a consultant. Over the last 14 years I have worked for a few of the consulting companies most know. Such as Whitehall Management, Summit Management and Capacity Management. Then, in 2008 I started Quantum Leap in Dentistry for Dr. Mike Kesner. I have experience in consulting all practice types and styles. This includes small rural offices to very large metropolitan offices. Also offices utilizing CEREC to those that are fee for service only, as well as HMO, PPO and associate driven offices.

In 2012 I was asked to move to Texas to assume the position of COO for Made Ya Smile Dental when I started there were 3 locations. Within five years we had grown to 13 locations, a corporate office, call center with centralized billing as well as a specialty department. My experience in all of these areas is extensive. Helping them grow, monitoring and managing them on a daily basis through good years and bad, has been my life. I was also in charge of hiring, training employees and terminating them. The majority of my efforts were geared towards conflict resolution which most growing DSO’s deal with on a day-to-day basis. My job was rewarding and intense to say the least. I gathered a wealth of knowledge while running a 25 million dollar a year company that made the INC.500 list every year I was there. I know first hand the importance of a culture that maintains the right environment to support the company’s systems, objectives and purpose. Managing over 250 employees and being able to grow each office to an average of 200K per month wasn’t easy and many lessons were learned from mistakes made. Ultimately working through those issues and finding the solutions to correct them was where the majority of my education came from.

At this point I am taking the information, skills and experience I have obtained in the Houston market over the last 6 years and going back to how it all started for me, being a consultant. I am looking to work with a small group of doctors where I can apply all the things I have learned over the last 14 years to grow their practices while saving them time and money with a well developed plan of action.
