Nestled in Goshen just 9 miles northeast of Milford and 6 miles east of Loveland, there is a hidden gem for all Cincinnati Nature Center members—Long Branch Farm & Trails. Be sure to take the time to visit this special place which is accessible to Nature Center members only.
In 1973, Neil McElroy (former Procter & Gamble CEO and former Secretary of Defense) and his wife Camilla gave their beloved Long Branch Farm to Cincinnati Nature Center. The McElroys had a long-standing interest in education and wished to see the property become an environmental education facility.
For years, the Nature Center operated the land as a working farm, educating visitors about agricultural ecology. Then in 2007, the Nature Center refocused the farm’s mission. Today, we lease the agricultural fields to a local farmer and preserve the rest of the land in its natural state. Members will find 4 miles of hiking trails winding through 642 acres of deciduous forest, fields, streams and ponds.
Members can expect a Walden-like setting at Long Branch Farm where you’ll have bountiful forests, picturesque meadows, and pristine streams all to yourselves. We repeatedly hear members say that it is a place of peace and serenity, a much-needed answer to our frenzied and technology-driven world.
