LCFR employs almost 600 dedicated men and women who provide high quality emergency response, training, fire investigation, code enforcement, emergency communications, emergency management planning, and other critical services - all funded by tax dollars NOT donations.
Our 300+ members operate out of all 18 stations in the County. Of these stations, 9 are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The remaining stations - except for Sterling, Cascades, and Lovettsville - are staffed by personnel who work a rotating schedule of 12 hour days, 7 days a week, with volunteers providing evening coverage. In Sterling, Cascades, and Lovettsville, career staff are only in the station Monday-Friday with volunteers providing coverage evenings and weekends.
Two of the three operational Battalion Chief positions are staffed by career personnel 24/7 and the other staffed 7 days a week from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Career personnel also staff the E911 system, the Fire Marshall’s office and the training center.
