Lubbock Lake Landmark

For thousands of years, across hundreds of generations, people have come to Lubbock Lake. Located in the southernmost reaches of the Great Plains of North America, the waters of this ancient lake nourished a rich and abundant ecosystem that in turn, provided food, shelter, tools, and clothing to those who traveled across it or came to settle here. Clovis Age hunter-gatherers, who followed the Ancient Bison and Colombian Mammoth, the Apache and Comanche nations, and the founding of a modern city are each a part of the history of this National Historic Landmark that is one of the premier archaeological and research sites in North America. Lubbock Lake Landmark is a unit of the Museum of Texas Tech University.
